Small soapbox moment. Can we stop with callout or gatekeeping or whatever you want to call it? In any fandom or group. It's ok to keep people who are trying to harm a group away from that group. Ignorance is not malice. Don't get uppity. Educate. Explain. Help out.

I just don't want this to be what it is looking like to me, as my always position as the fringe observer. The anonymity and power of the internet used to reinforce high-school level clique cultures. This is not ok. We all can be better people.

It's not easy. It's going to take putting aside our personal feelings and experiences with something and coming at each situation optimistic and unopinionated. No easy task. But what we have right now is toxic to everyone. It serves no purpose but to separate and harm.

In fandoms follower influence is everything. Lately I see more and more of it being used to harm and push people away from fandoms. Don't. If you feel someone is doing something you don't like in a fandom, engaging them only draws attention to them. Treat them like a child.

Do not give someone who you feel is toxic attention. That encourages the toxic behavior. Give that attention to those who do the things you like. If they stop being someone you enjoy to follow, then simply leave. You are not beholden to followers, nor them to you.

Let's just be friends, ok? I don't think that's asking too much.
