When you visit The Red House you're walking on history! Pears chose the carpets (red and green were his favourite colours!), but over the years they've become worn. Here's a snap of some conservation work taking place to repair a strip between the Dining Room and corridor.

The Sunday drive might be a thing of the past, but any excuse to share this cracking photo of Britten and Pears with a Rolls Royce in the 1940s. Photographer unidentified.

Before Britten and Pears, The Red House was part of a 1,500 acre farm. The land stretched all the way down to the sea and included part of what is Aldeburgh Golf Course today.

To mark here's the iconic Uluru in postcard form from Britten and Pears' travels down under. Britten sent the postcard to writer Donald Mitchell in 1970 after having 'spent the night by the side of this amazing place'.

Are you taking part in the this weekend? Britten was a keen birdwatcher - here he is in the 1950s, possibly looking out over the waders on the Alde Estuary.

We recently received this great photograph for the Archive of Britten standing by his smart car outside the Red House before the side porch was added for the Queen’s visit. Taken by Bill Weddle when he visited in September 1963.

Here at The Red House we're busy preparing for our 2020 open season which means we have to take down last year's exhibition from our Gallery. While we're sad to say goodbye to Tippett & Britten, it's always a fun team effort getting the vinyl off the walls!
