Like, maybe don’t try to pivot to a campaign commercial in the middle of a non-apology? Maybe don’t try to Uno reverse the blame? Maybe don’t “yeah I was abusive, but actually...” Maybe don’t absurdly assume moral superiority by talking about leading by example. Maybe just don’t.

So, in other countries, candidates and elected officials can just get kicked out of the party. Why can't we do that in the USA?
-
A party can eject someone from their caucus, and it's often possible for a legislative chamber to reject and eject an elected representative (though the history there is messy), but state parties often aren't in control of their primary elections (partly because gov't funding).

Wow. Is *this* recent enough to not count as “canceling him for something he did as a kid” or do we have to wait until we find something horrible he did this morning

Hasn’t the party already called for him to drop out?

Here in Canada, if an MP does something to hurt the party, they can be ejected.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_discipline?wprov=sfla1 …

(Also please get help because if you’re a grown adult getting blackout drunk to the point you may have assaulted your also-blackout-drunk girlfriend you have a bigger problem than a sticky PR sitch, Aaron.) it’s out there. Help, that is.)
-
Let's not pretend that 'assaulting girlfriends' is a point that is reachable via just drinking. There are a lot of people who get blackout drunk and never assault anyone. People who assault others while drunk _want_ to assault others, and just decide not to normally.
