2/ When I transferred from private school to public school in 10th grade, it was one of the most educational experiences of my life. Suddenly, I wasn’t surrounded by people exactly like me. More than any math lesson or history lesson, that fundamentally shaped who I am today.

Even in Jackson I think the big ones run around $20k.

Well, we both know the reasoning for that in Jackson.

there is a private kindergarten near here that charges $23k/yr/kid. I haven't been inside but I assume that the desks are gold plated or something.

I'm about to pay $17,000 for daycare this year. Universal childcare when???
-
I think that’s a different situation but the cost of it is disgusting. I’m 1000% for public universal childcare.

That’s why we do parochial- it’s about $10,000 a year (much more affordobale). There are plenty in Houston that hit that $30,000 mark though - it’s crazy!

This is also co-incidentally how much we’re spending to take care of my mother who is 93. So glad we didn’t go with private school for our kid. It’s not easy, or sustainable, trying to do the right thing.

Yup. I taught at private schools. Tuition was nearly 50k a year and I was paid between 20-28k in the years I worked at private schools...
-
That’s disgusting and I’m sorry.
