1/ I appreciated @SpeakerPelosi’s leadership during the #trumpshutdown and border wall nonsense. She was the leader we needed in that moment.
But, alienating and undermining progressive Democratic women elected to the House is not helpful for us winning 2020 and beyond.
2/ If you are looking at the pipeline of women leaders, we look a lot more like AOC and lot less like Nancy Pelosi. Additionally, this is the fastest growing segment of our party’s base. Rather than dismissing us, she should be embracing us. We are the future of the party.
3/ We’re not all going to agree on everything. The Democratic Party is a big tent. But it seems to me that if she wants us to have disagreements in private, it’s hypocritical to undermine the progressive wing in public - and especially to the NYT.
At this point, Speaker Pelosi has leveled more public criticism at AOC than at Barr and Mnuchin combined
Generational change is difficult & her generation (a half a gen. above me) is hesitant about passing the torch. My guess is that they’re assessing their hopes & goals, from when they started, & realize how much they haven’t gotten done due to the need for practical compromises.
