It is not uncommon to hear sports scientists talk about "playing" with athlete data. Are your athletes aware of your experiment?

Interesting analysis of injury characteristics and rates in collegiate football. How do the injury trends of your program compare? Hint: if you don’t know your injury rates (and if they are improving or not) you’re behind.

Here are two athletes in the same football position reporting back to camp. Both have been given roughly the same volume of activity, but yet we see two completely different responses to that same stimulus (internal load). Frequently assess to monitor and mitigate risk.

The goal of data collection among athletes should be actionable intelligence. How we interpret and act upon data can be a significant performance advantage. Too often it’s just a shiny hood ornament.
