My new study @voxdotcom: The Democratic Socialist proposals would cost $42 trillion over the decade and $218 trillion over 30 years -- according to CBO and liberal scores.https://www.vox.com/the-big-idea/2018/8/7/17658574/democratic-socialism-cost-medicare-college-sanders-deficits-taxes …

Fed spending would immediately hit 40% of GDP, on way to 50% by 2048. Total govt spending at all levels would eventually approach 60% of GDP – exceeding all of Europe.

Even with defense huge cuts, it would take a 37% payroll tax (on top of current 15.3%) to pay for this $42 trillion And don’t forget the surging budget baseline deficits that will require their own 15 percentage point across-the-board income tax hike to close.

          A. Ocasio-Cortez has yet to actually explain how they plan to pay for everything but we know her plan is to steal from the people who actually earn a living and give it to people who do not. Socialism is theft of the highest order and its only goal is to make us all equally poor.

People who follow Vox are already furiously "debunking" the article by showing that Riedl is a conservative. But Vox wouldn't have printed it if they disagreed with the numbers. Never seen a Vox article get that many tweets before. Liberals don't like bad news.

If you cut defence spending in half (and still have the most bloated military) and increase income tax somewhat (especially for those earning above 60k), it would more than pay for all these proposed lower and middle class enhancing benefits and services.

You mean the place they are required to buy insurance? And if they don't have it they get billed later and fined for not having insurance?

LOL. No one is dying here either. And I very much doubt a person as ignorant as you knows anything about US bankruptcy law.

I got a solution . Tax those registered under the socialist and democratic parties 75% and they will need to show they belong to the party to collect benefits.
