There is certainly a case to be made that Apple stands uniquely positioned to deliver services that require deep and catastrophically personal info in a private and secure way. Healthcare is another spot where they could do this. Possibly them and only them

I'll ask this another way: how much more data, if any, is needed to determine one's credit worthiness past phone, phone plan, usage pattern, and billing zip code/location radius? My inkling here is that less is more.

Ana, great point. In many ways Apple is only second to Amazon in datasets of potential credit worthiness of a vast amount of US residents. If the data is used correctly, no FICA needed.

Would be interesting to see people's comfort levels of Apple, Amazon etc owning this data & decision process vs Experian, Equifax, etc.

Ana, indeed. I have reminded clients that the standard credit reporting systems were built by merchants only decades later did they become standalone. Today with the right thinking and tools it makes sense to use the data you have as a merchant.
