I think the relevant conversation is about the how, not the if. There is a reason that, post Siri, nearly every top tech Co is investing billions in this war. Like search, there will be a big winner(s) and whomever prevails will rule the digital revenue streams of the future.

Dag, I fully agree. I could not think of a person in a better position to comment on this subject. Thank you.

We’re in the first inning. BE’s observations ring true on where we’re at, but as 3rd-parties join this game in a meaningful way just like the “App Store effect” on mobile this game changes in a big, big way.

The whole point of my argument is that third party development does not fix the problem in any way

When the ecosystem doesn’t require you to change the way you ask for something, then it’s game on. Your point is well taken on today’s ecosystems. Until it’s natural, not unnatural language things change. Preferred developers make money. The new SEO.

I think invocation words are a secondary issue - the primary issue is remembering the skill itself is there, regardless of whether you need a specific wording to get to it. Similar to a smart watch - how many new habits can you form?

Imagine when most major digital services are represented in a voice ecosystem. “I need a babysitter for tomorrow night” “Pay PG&E $74.32” “Send my brother the Steve Jobs biography” “Send a large sausage pizza to my office asap” The “world of doing” is more initiative and limited.

Dag, Yes! This is the point that is often overlooked by many observers, how deeply contextual data is far more important than general data. The correct answer or solution is the one that is correct to you.

Dag, for example: "Send a large sausage pizza to my office asap” large sausage pizza = the Pizza you want to my office = your office location This context is for this user and likely be largely different for another user. High Context > general data.

Yep! I would never order a sausage pizza!

Carolina, I am with you on this. My Naples born Grandma thought it to be quite a sin to add sausage to her pizza. This stuck with me.
