Benedict, indeed. When seen with the backdrop of over 10,000 folks just working on Alexa at Amazon, the premise of Alexa as purely a “Smart Home” play, it would be no victory. But as the next natural interface to AI mediated computing, it is a profound first step and a huge lead.

I hope you are right, but I think that that is the expert system fallacy.

Benedict, I hear ya and for quite sometime felt in the way you present. However in actually working with deep context the “work” we need to get done is performed to a greater degree with less steps. A true lever effect. Over time like a child, it learns.

...Thus the true
#VoiceFirst movement is about high context AI. Today we do not have thatbin Siri/Alexa/etc. however my research in a garage lab has produced high context dialogues with no General AI...Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Thanks for this explainer! Very helpful. So voice first will work once computers both understand what I'm saying and respond the right way - correct? And the main barrier today is the depth of understanding? Or ability to respond well?

Zach, thank you. I think the most important aspect of the
#VoiceFirst future is there deep contextual (small data) understanding of you. Thus knowing you is the real endgame. This is on every dimension. From actions to interactions.
