@markuhde Mark, that UK family is Chip and PIN not Swipe or Dip, PIN or Signature all at once that is coming to the US. Big difference

@BrianRoemmele no. Family here visiting the UK with chip and sign cards. No issue. Now, Ireland. That's a mess.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@markuhde Mark, your family had years of EMV training. The US has not and it hits all at once.

@BrianRoemmele no. They haven't. I'm referring to family here that used their chip cards there for the first time a month ago!1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@markuhde Mark, again this insight is interesting but not supported by empirical observations. Not by this dataset: http://www.theukcardsassociation.org.uk/contactless_contactless_statistics/ …

@BrianRoemmele those stats show people find contactless more convenient. It is. But that doesn't mean the US should keep allowing magstripes1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@markuhde Mark, these astute merchants and banks averted EMV for years for a huge number of reasons. Laziness was not one of them.

@BrianRoemmele losing trust probably was? Even with few choices I still try to shop at the few places with EMV and/or contactless.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
@markuhde Mark, there are ~75 EMV UX fail points. Startup innovation has not addressed 1. That is sadness. They guess or read my free stuff.
