Back to Apple Pay numbers from last night. Relevant bit from Tim Cook on contactless volumes. (Thanks @SeekingAlpha)pic.twitter.com/I2WvtIctgg

@jameswester James, what are you views about the early growth of #ApplePay with the limited data Tim announced?
@BrianRoemmele My judgment at this point is almost wholly qualitative and might be considered a bit odd. And it's long so grab your coffee.
@BrianRoemmele As far as numbers go, they seem to be heading in the right direction. We're three months in and there's still buzz.
@BrianRoemmele The biggest number may be the number of phones sold that support Apple Pay, not activations: 75M? In 3 months? Holy cats!
@BrianRoemmele But the key phrase to me in your question may be "Tim announced." In other words, it warranted a serious mention by the CEO.
@jameswester Agree. The thing that really shocked me was the pronouncement form Tim Cook calling 2015 the year of #ApplePay.
@BrianRoemmele Compare that to Google Wallet. Was it ever mentioned in an earnings call? Was the CEO even present when it was launched?
@BrianRoemmele Not sure if you remember the Google Wallet launch, but it was a big presentation and it was launched by a VP.
@BrianRoemmele Even without numbers (and I'm betting they're not huge) there's a big difference between Apple Pay and other efforts.
@jameswester @BrianRoemmele this we can all agree on
