Consider: millions of years ago our antecedents gave a massive sacrifice of their left hemisphere. We lost a tremendous amount of short term memory and replaced it with Broca’s, Wernicke & the phonological loop. But why? So we can—talk. The cognitive trade-off is a theory, not a fact. Actually a very controversial theory, btw. You have every right to believe it, but it's also an obligation clarify that this is not a cientific fact.

Daniel, thank you for the insight. Indeed these are theories like just about all aspects of science. If Twitter had more space I would have preambled this in detail.
