Stephen Hawking didn't use DEC-Talk. He used the Speech Plus Calltext 5010. This is a common misconception, but one that I feel the need to correct whenever I see it.https://twitter.com/BrianRoemmele/status/1158125451732119553 …
Mohamed, Both systems are built on Klatt Talk. And the genealogy is from Klatt Talk -> DecTalk on to others but with Klatt’s voice. Klatt said all of the other systems were built with the Dec code he helped create. And Hawkins recognizes Klatt as his voice. Thus it is Dec code.

True enough, but it is very distinguishable from DEC-Talk in many fundamental ways, especially for those of us who used that technology daily.

Patrick, I hear ya. I go by Mr. Klatt. He was paid by DEC and not the others. His life work and even his voice was taken in a manner that did not do him justice. Stephen Hawkins also recognized this and if Klatt was alive would have righted this wring. So I call it DECTalk.

Haha, your tweet was seen by a load of blind people that use TTS on a daily basis, (including myself) so we know, and we hear the difference. Many won't, but it's something we just can't help noticing.
