The earliest recorded mention of the middle finger is a play "The Clouds", written by the Greek Aristophanes in 423 B.C. Even then, the middle finger has a clear, obscene and sexual use. I've always hoped at least one the brothers used it that day .

Ever heard of Lawrence Hargrave, Brian? He took to the air at Stanwell Park in Sydney on November 12th,1894. He was a multi-disciplined engineer and inventor. The first powered flight in Austria was in 1910 and it was achieved by Harry Houdini.
