Lots of people say things like "only follow under 200 people" or "only use lists" but I think these are huge, bubble-forming, boring-inducing mistakes.
Liberally follow *and* unfollow people. See something weird, or interesting, or smart but you totally disagree with? Follow!

More than experts, or ppl in the summarizing-commentating industry, you should follow experimenters, tinkerers, and people who are trying to live by doing. Follow the people who are groping ahead, unafraid to try out weird things, including weird thoughts and fail publicly.

Want to know more about a topic, like
ism? Follow 20
's. They don't have to be geniuses or experts. You will learn something. You might make friends! Follow away at the slightest whim. Bring them into your heart and contemplation.1 reply 0 retweets 8 likesShow this thread -
Do not follow mean people, or scolds, or people who are political 100% of the time. Later, as you read tweets from your adding, liberally unfollow people who are mean or too boring (however you define this, I'm sure we define it differently), too political, etc.

I prefer to keep the number around 1000, but probably any number higher than 500 is good. Definitely don't only follow people with your interests. I think its also good to follow visual accounts, and people in other countries, even if you don't understand the language well.
