It was 2015 and a very concerned mom with 2 PhDs, 12 years of university education speaks to a classic “public hearing” of a local board of education. They are meeting to “fix” eduction—in just 108 steps. They adopted this program and so did most of the US. This is our future:pic.twitter.com/CoJxKBXvU2
Michael, great question. There are many answers. The end result is US students are now slipping past most of the world in proficiency and has don nothing to help them be more prepared. We live in interesting times. What is down is up, but you can’t say it.

I'm still curious what caused it... Decreased funding? Lower quality teachers? If so, why Overly litigious parents? Rise of private alternative education?

Michael, The primary reason is to sell new books and invalidate teaching systems that have worked for a few centuries. Also new teaching systems invalidate tenured teachers and allow new replacements at half price. There a lot more to it but this is the line.
