Meet the 1951 Theseus by the astonishing Claude Shannon of @BellLabs.
A maze-solving mouse with 99 relays for its brain—mouse of X-Y motors & reed switches.
It solved massive routing issues for making calls.
It is the antecedent to all machine learning and AI we have—today.pic.twitter.com/XJpbdfEmwu

The thing that is phenomenal, Claude Shannon invented machine learning AI before the transistor.
Using the parts on hand @BellLabs he assembled 90 phone relay switches into a simple memory and computing system.
It would be decades before the magnitude of Theseus was realized.pic.twitter.com/P3O4pTVLvd
