A VC just asked me about an eco idea they could invest in. I explained the recycled plastic, glass, paper & old car tires are now getting burned or dumped in many communities. I know a way to make them in to road surfaces and it could repave the US—less expensively then today.pic.twitter.com/nj51P1g7ye

      Would it handle snowy conditions?

Brian, thanks for asking. Indeed. We can vary the mixture of glass particles to paper and rubber tires and make a surface that is superior to current surfaces and intact make it non skid. It is easy cheap and scalable. No one is doing it.

That makes sense - based on the illustrations you posted, I am wondering about the thermal (and also acoustic) properties of maintaining an airspace below the road surface.

Brian, I hear ya. The image to the left is more in line to my ideas. The one to the right is a whimsical idea from a German company to use just plastic. I can see both but like the idea of mixing all the recycling into a single traditionalroad surface.

It's a Dutch company. The concept is for a "plastic based" road surface - no indication that it would only use plastics. There's a website outlining the concept (it's a little more than whimsy):https://www.plasticroad.eu/en/
