This security vulnerability is great theater but like many of the recent hacks is more about researcher notoriety than actual risk. Bret, I started using bicycle reflectors and reflector tape on Echo since 2014. I can fix this at the factory for about 5¢. I can not believe DARPA funded this arcane research. Good to know of course and why you hire experts—but millions of dollars researching it?

Bret, thanks for asking. Indeed. There are other vectors also. All of my Echos and Google devices have 38 modifications. All should be built-in from day one. They are simple and frankly these companies should know this stuff.
