Amazing. It must be an exciting, heart-pounding experience uncovering gems about to be lost forever. How long do you usually have? Do you still have some of the equipment required to read the tapes? (lost formats)

Jason, thanks for asking. Sometime I only have minutes. Sometimes I get security folks telling me I am breaking the law (I am not). Sometimes folks see me and join in and help. Most times just hours. Weather hurt it. I have the equipment to read it, just not enough time—yet.

How do you decide what to take?

Jonny, thanks for asking. After I wipe away my tears, I dive in and do the best I can. I can’t take everything and time is not on my side. At night I think of the 1000s of dumpsters I did not save. These thoughts haunt me.
