In the 1970s the entire technology stack for the credit card business was given to the world for free. From IBM’s magnetic stripe to Bell Labs card authorization network and machines technologies. Consider the very first electronic credit card machine.
It was invented by Bell Labs in the early 1970s and I saw it being built by the researchers.
It fascinated me and started one of my life long paths in payments.
