So many layers to this finding; does the bias of users toward a female-voiced #vui reinforce the choice to make #voicefirst devices female, or is it the result of their prevalence?https://twitter.com/scotwestwater/status/1182319086782550016 …
I hear ya, You know this is where recent cultural shifts that started after the industrial revolution have taken hold. It was the final blow to the Matriarchy turned to a full Patriarchy. If we didn't listen to mom’s we simply would not be here. Her authoritative voice was final.

So would that not possibly call into question some of the studies you mentioned?

It fortifies the brain scan activity we see in every cohort of the population around the world. We all simply listen far more deeply to the female voice. This is hard-wired for survival. Mom is just about our sole voice of authority for at least the 5+ most formative years.

Either way, I don't see why users should have to be relegated to just one voice chosen by some big corporate entity? What prevents a user from using any voice they want? Is it a technical issue currently?
-
Great question. It is the folly of the some platforms not thinking about what
#VoiceFirst truly is and will become. By painting themselves into a corner with a “stock” voice with overt celebrities showing up, they will make this nearly impossible because of the thinking at play.

It seems like that is a potentially huge business in the making. I am sure lots of people would like the voice of Kathleen Turner of Scarlet Johannsen on their VAs. Or even their own or someone in their family.
