Similarly, Alexa Skills and Google Actions are based on an App Store model... Pull over out of the noise, ask @BrianRoemmele for directions and pay him for the map. His track record is too impressive to be ignored.https://twitter.com/marcoarment/status/1180105974515994624 …

I think the model is a little fuzzier than this. I agree - Skills definitely follow the app store model. You need to "install" something. Actions, however, are more of a Web model. Unique names. Ask for them any time. Google's goal is to help you find them.

(We'll see if that changes with Assistant NG.) But it shows how nearly the same thing is just subtly different based on the DNA of the two companies. Amazon sells things, sometimes not even their things, but you can't tell. Google finds things and sends you to them.

(And, for the record, I've compared Bixby to more of a semantic-web model. Lots of bits out there that Bixby will help you pull together. But it isn't clear if that's what people actually want.)

Allen, great insights sir. I agree. I would add all approaches have a dead end and no way back. The better approach I think would be to scrap it all and build the right modalities. I know it is harsh but there is no bridge.
