I can remember having the "feeling" that Sony made the best products, very similar to how I feel Apple makes the best products today. I just looked around, even in my tech junk drawer, and I don't see Sony anywhere. Not even an SD card. Interesting...

Robert, brilliant sir. This is it precisely. We become clouded with incrementalism and not the true paradigm shifts. It blinds us to what history will see as obvious. It is happening right before our eyes and few folks want to call any of the emperors—naked. This is our folly.
