Apple is putting building blocks in place for glasses *years* before the actual product is ready. UWB just the latest thing to ship.

Benedict, indeed! Right on target sir. There are many elements to IEEE 802.15.4z from spacial to higher data rates then Bluetooth. Apple Glasses will start out like CarPlay for your head. I wrote a bit about this the day U1 was announced: https://qr.ae/TWKtWT

Bala, thanks for asking. It is one of the abilities of the Apple U1 Chip, to self reference the node pulse wave. But it can also deliver better than Bluetooth data transfers in a highly directional fashion. There are quite a few other cases I cover in the
@Quora posting.1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes -

Your "Why Apple Did Not Announce The U1 Chip?" section at the close of that article!
@BrianRoemmele It will be interesting to see when/in what order that comes to be.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

Zeo, Thank you! Indeed. These are very interesting times. The pendulum swings. You know at one time experts thought there was not enough bandwidth to accommodate the developing world for phones. Today the same thing is being said about bandwidth. HyperLocal will shift this.

In your posting you refer many times to "indoor" use cases. What are the main hurdles to overcame to get to outdoor use cases beyond phone to phone ?

Andreas, thanks for asking. There is actually an equivalent outdoor usecase. Certainly as a method to: unlock doors, transmit AirPod and/or some Apple Glasses data, fine directional guidance, ticketing and such. As Apple opens up the extended use of this radio much more.
