Looks like Alexa #flashbriefings are leveling off. Interesting/surprising trend. #voicefirst community - do you think this is tied to a bigger industry trend?pic.twitter.com/29vwxIORqw

@emilybinder and I alluded to this on her pod this week... I don't understand why Amazon isn't making flash briefings more prominent. In fact, they've made them harder to find & access of late. It's odd considering it's an Alexa-specific feature and can attract big media outlets.

Agreed. I dread when I go to show someone all the clicks that's required in the Alexa app to add a flash briefing. It's way too buried in settings. They should be front and center in the app as a content card.

The best way is to just say "Alexa enable (Flash Briefing name).” However if you're searching for good ones that you don't know the name of, that's not possible using voice.

Yeah, and that's for people who are aware what a flash briefing even is. It used to be that when you opened the Alexa app, Flash Briefings were front and center and new users were educated upfront on what they were... today, that's not really the case. Hope this changes.

Folks, this is indicative of three issues. 1) Amazon resting on building start of day, mid day and end of day news, flashes and podcast structures customized by the user. 2) monetization 3) discovery and surfacing. Plus we are entering the #VoiceFirst cold winter.

Yes. It’s the evolution of audio (legacy and current) - but with more personalization for end user - micro content (60 sec) to macro for hours (extended podcast). A buffet to satisfy your media appetite based on how hungry you are & what you are doing.

Spotify is the dark horse here. They have many of the building blocks to facilitate the “buffet” w/ curation, creation and consumption (love the analogy of buffet)... would love to see Spotify start to get into micro audio content
