BOOOM! An Apple Card was just issued to an applicant that had a 590 FICO score. Some call scores below 620 sub prime however Apple is using a rather new technology to help approve a wider group of card holders. This will have a profound impact to all in the banking world.pic.twitter.com/tHuBAUNvs2

Hi Brian, I’m curious as to why you think this is a good thing? I know there are exceptions to the rule but doesn’t a lower FICO score mean you haven’t been good with credit? I love how much thought you put into your posts and would love to hear your insights

Richard, thanks for asking! I appreciate the kind words sir! There are many reasons for a low score. One reason is new or no credit. Others are tied to medical bills with all mother payments current. The FICO model is broken.

I can understand that. Do you know what Apples approval process is to make sure people aren’t putting themselves in more debt that they shouldn’t tale on? Or do they follow the government philosophy of spending your way to wealth? 😜 I Jest, but I’m sure you get my point.

Richard, great questions. The technology Apple is using tied to lock screen notifications makes tracking your useable part of how folks will be able to monitor their credit and usage. In tests I have seen, the feedback in real time has an interesting way to curb some spending.

Are new/little-credit users also described as “thin file” prospects in the US? New to country is a good reason for this in the EU.
