Steve Jobs on the inventions of new mediums.. A message from August 5th, 1985. This is precisely what he would say about #VoiceFirst, it is a new medium: “Whenever we develop a new medium, we generally tend to fall back into our old habits from our old media..."pic.twitter.com/B5KORzstkw

Brian, you prob haven't seen this -- but I used to talk about how new mediums were the best way to introduce fundamentally new ideas/products:https://www.slideshare.net/vlaskovits/growthhacker-live-preso-by-patrick-vlaskovits-pv/19-Message_Growthhacking_Flurry_as_ad/19 …

What do you mean by that Brian? Can you tell it in you own words?

Karol, thanks for asking. The rise of #VoiceFirst is like the rise of every other medium. We see it through the lens of the past. Yet if we analyze what we are really trying to do on computers, the ability to just say (or type) to get the job done is what this medium is about.

This is sort of what worries me about iPadOS. From around 2012-2015, Apple didn’t seem to know what to do with iPad, so it was just maintained as a large iPhone with no unique direction. With iOS 9, iOS 11, and now iPadOS 13, they’ve been slowly transforming it into a Mac.

People love the added power and functionality the iPad now has, but I’m still undecided if that’s the future, or if Apple has simply turned it into a really good horse and buggy.

I am fascinated by this, but more the history of how people react to new media/innovations, and how people adopt & adapt. Just psychology, sociology, anthropology, culture - I think understanding all those things really help .

What medium do you think most people will revert back to when it comes to #VoiceFirst I’m referring to Steve’s comment about TV pointing a camera at a radio show.
