Isn’t this Starlink? Part of the satellite is extremely reflective and they can rotate thanks to thrusters. If they happen to be facing they can be bright if they reflect the sun. If they happen to rotate while we’re watching, they’ll “disappear”.

Ben, great insight. This is possible but the radar imprint and the really fast controlled acceleration makes this lesss likely.
