I’ve been fascinated by the Edwin Land-Jobs relationship for years, and this one is equally intriguing for a whole different set of reasons.
Harry, indeed! Steve credited Ross for so many things in his life, one was to mature him as a manager. Ross saw Steve as a person that was mistreated and misunderstood by Apple. That said, he also sort of bailed on him — resigning from the board — which was months before the Presidential run we all remember.
M.G. Yes. This was Ross’s divestment phase. That “deep sucking sound” he heard also made him leave most of his business investments and responsibilities behind. Steve supported the move apparently very reluctantly. They remained in close contact over the years.
