Google's made mistakes of its own. The botched launch of Duplex was probably far more impactful than we realized. That was supposed to be an important next step for voice - meaningful layering of new AI functionality. Ended up spooking people and setting things back 6-12 mos.

Samsung's entrance into the market was well-timed. They're the
#VoiceFirst blue ocean of opportunity. As I've stated before, Amazon vs. Google now becoming Amazon vs. Google vs. Samsung for developer attention and resources is a powerful change and boosts the entire market.3 replies 2 retweets 10 likesShow this thread -

The conclusion is that calling the current period a "trough of disillusionment" seems a little inaccurate. There may be temporary disillusionment by the earliest of adopters. But the masses were bamboozled by progress the last year or two, & need this lull to catch their breath.

I stated in a different Twitter conversation that the area where impact will be felt next is likely to be healthcare. The Voice of Healthcare Summit (

#VoiceFirst community to weigh commentary about lack of adoption, underperforming trends, etc against the realization of just how far things have come in the last two years. Long way to go. But worth keeping the history in mind.#VoiceFirst3 replies 1 retweet 18 likesShow this thread -

Robert, thank you sir. Indeed. The phases will be equally interesting and in some ways logarithmically more important. The amazing
@bmetrock is so on target. I know so many things that can avoid the deepest part of the close winter but many folks need the ears to hear.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
