How do regular people run their own full node cheaply in this type of system? I haven’t a clue what they’re saying, but I’d offer that individual full node ability is a prerequisite.

Great question! There are quite a few ways. One is to tie each transaction to a result of a collapsed wave function locking this to the prior super position. Today’s miners would handle the results of the Quantum calculation but it would take a significant performance hit.

Thanks for asking. Indeed. QKD is a partial response. This paper has a far more useful approach. There are actually many others.
