Bitcoin has always been on a long term arc matching Moore’s Law. This morning we saw a 6 second $10,000 value attained with the normal pull back. One reason Moore’s Law applies is because this coin is mined. Value of this raw energy plus maths is the value that we see. https://twitter.com/BrianRoemmele/status/1142067100141277186 …pic.twitter.com/8ZlWo8svWB

I've recently suspected Moore's law applied to all technology investment in general via Solow-Swan. But should Bitcoin follow an exponential curve? Or will it be the product of an exponential and a parabola (the latter due to Metcalf's law)?

Mathew, excellent insight! Indeed this is on my mind too. There exists the possibility that the network effect will drive Bitcoin past even Matcalf. This can cause speculative bursts but if Matcalf takes hold the shift will be bigger than anything we have witnessEd in wealth xfer

I'll backtrack because though Moore's law is a quadratic function, it's hard to know how linear adoption will be. Not a parabola, but P ~ f(t, a) = m*a^2*e^{t*b}, where m and b are best fit constants, a is adoption, and t is time. Ultimately, the shape might look like anything.

Mathew, yes! This is exactly how a group of JPL scientists and I predicted Bitcoin rise in 2011. We meet every few months and would be honored to have you pop in if that works for you and the “rocket scientists”. We have had some successful prediction as I am sure you guess.

Where are you? And what is JPL? Seems like a fun conversation.

Matthew, you can jump in via Skype. JPL = Jet Propulsion Labs @Nasa and a group of us formed a nerd master mind meeting back in the 1990s to use math and physics to help predict outcomes in technology and society as a whole. It is of course unofficial but we have consulted.

Gentlemen, when the two of you eventually meet in person, whether tomorrow or some years from now, I expect a picture.

Bradley, thank you sir! You know I think you may enjoy one of the Rocket Scientist meeting also. You have been amazing and a great friend on this adventure. I need to ask to break to rules.
