I took one COBOL class in undergrad because there were fewer students, but, switched to C the same day. For some reason I remember it written all in CAPS with mind-numbing verbosity. BEGIN SECTION BEGIN PARAGRAPH END PARAGRAPH END SECTION

One old timer COBOL programmer once told me he had to take a sip of coffee every time he used a reserved word. We met at a Starbucks to talk, it was 8pm.

I reluctantly learned COBOL as a child in the late 90s - our small town public library had only the oldest programming books, and I didn't have the background for Lisp. I never used it.

Chris, I hear ya. Turns out you can moonlight for about $500 per hour in some cases. Good times.

Victor, indeed. It is why I circled it. Found it hidden in COBOL code written in 2017. Fun times.

Amazing. You can learn COBOL in high school and pay your computer science tuition with the proceeds.

Nick, indeed. I would go on to say you would likely never leave COBOL as it will pay 5x-10x more than a typical programming job and you will have a pick of where you work and when you work.
