Brian, this is so insightful. My observation in working with a decent amount of companies, is that they are "obsessed and fixated" on metrics for many things, but not human performance. How do employees work best? What creates productivity? All ignored. It's fascinating to me.

Julie, indeed! This is it precisely. It is part of an immaturity in human development. The metric obsession is now weaponized and made social. It some ways it starts innocently like using it to motivate others to exercise. Today 90% of it actually is fully counterproductive.
