Question for lazy-web: When i am in the back of an Uber, I prefer to tether my Macbook Air to my iphone (via USB, now USB-C) for connectivity (versus Personal Hotspot). This way (1) phone charges, and (2) less radios - better for battery, & (3) less setup. When it works, great...

Unfortunately it rarely works. I'll get it working, & then the very next time its stops. Does anyone have this working reliably? What's the key?

Easier: an iPad Pro with built-in cellular. Battery lasts forever and no cables.

Folks, if the laptop came after the tablet and smartphone we would have SIM cards and touch screens as a an a priori. One effort that slowed it down on this timeline is the data limits on most cellular plans with typical computer apps. 5G will make it a default on laptops.
