I can’t imagine coding by speaking. Nor sitting next to somebody who is coding by speaking.

John, indeed I hear ya. The thing we call coding today, will rapidly become a part of history in 10 years. Systems will self code via AI by assembling LEGO parts in real-time. And ultimately the majority of the world will not need a keyboard—like they don't need punch cards.

It (the keyboard) won’t be gone, but I think we should build our software to make it irrelevant.

Unless we can all speak at the same time and you can be tuned to only hear me, this does not make sense at all

I believe in voice, but such a statement is just silly and - probably - more spur-of-the-moment than a reflected view. The keyboard is going nowhere for the vast majority of us. Not in 5, 10, even 20 years. Call me out on it in 20 years :-)

Keyboards will be gone for lots of people in lots of situations but for editing copy of any kind I'd love to see studies that suggest the voice is any where as dextrous as two hands.
