I’d love to hear thoughts on how AppStore 30% is different or the same as:
• Credit Card/ATM Service Charge
• Ticketmaster service fee
• Other more traditional businesses that “tax” as part of the process of enabling a purchase.

TicketMaster is just awful. No option but to pay their “service fee” at most major venues.

I always thought it was paying for Apple raising the game of smartphones to such massive levels – developers get to access the audience they built. Developers didn’t create that growth, they are tapping into someone else’s work.

Gentlemen, I agree Apple brings a robust, dynamic market to developers. Worth a partner fee. Indeed in the case of credit card rates, this too offers to merchants folks that have been vetted credit that allows for a sale that may not have taken place if there was no credit.
