It is astounding that all the 5 biggest tech (FAAMG) companies are in voice but there is still room for more. I can't think of another tech that both has the number of users and the number of competitors.

The web / internet. Also, for a brief moment: social.

True, hopefully the web is going to be the model.

Does this mean we need a W3 for voice? The lack of interoperability will probably lead to something like social is today: a duopoly with other niche players.

The web was built on a standard that was open so the origin was different. Social was built on an open network but the model creates natural monopolies. Voice AI is proprietary and only interoperable if the platforms decide its in their interest. Don’t expect a standard to arise

Gentlemen, I suggest that the true API to any
#VoiceFirst device is in fact the human voice. There are no permissions needed and any device can participate. I started doing this in 2014. Here is a sliver I made public in 2016:https://twitter.com/brianroemmele/status/720037718953033729?s=21 …Brian Roemmele added,

I guess the question is will providers use voice as a medium between each other? I would see that as a fallback only if there is a) no direct integration and b) no text-based api. Both would be preferable over converting the request to audio.

Daniel, great points! Indeed I agree. I will also suggest that there is a very rich and rewarding aspect to using my protocol here. I have demonstrated a synergistic result that I think may be very difficult and require dozens of APIs. I can do it with a few spoken sentences.

That is where my option 'b' comes in. It doesn't require converting the text to voice before sending it to the other system.

Daniel, indeed. In my work I never need to actually convert to text. The Raspberry PI based True Personal Assistant does this in real-time. In the demo, I just stated the process by askin a question. The rest was automatic.
