Christopher, I hear ya. You know I researched this quite a bit. It turns out that there is a huge evolutionary advantage to the concept of love. Unlike any species humans are born naked & vulnerable & need love of parents to survive. Love allows for a bond to sustain over time.

being a social animal is great! I just mean that point when we go from individual -> hive like single to multicellular... that seems rough

Christopher, ahh indeed. For most of our existence we had extended families very close to us. We also pair bonded very early ~16 yrsold. This allowed for a continuity and infrastructure that we do not have in current culture. The extreme results sadly, is depression.
