Why is it damaging?

Chris, thanks for asking. I will need to do a detailed write up soon not enough space here. It has much to do with the psychology of the human interaction as much as Alexa response. Especially over time and popular use cases.

I’m curious, in what ways have you found it damaging? Do you have the same conclusion with names timers? “Alexa, set a pasta timer for 10 minutes”
-
Great question! Indeed we have found it equally as impactful in a negative way.

I’d prefer to end it with a “thanks” or “got it”- without having to preface it with “Alexa” first
-
Yup. Allow hotwords like "stop" and "thanks" to be active when a timer is going off.

I like how you used ASCII characters for the dialog... reminds me of designing forms for DOS applications. Those were the days. ;-)

I use this interaction a lot and find it surprisingly annoying. Wish there was a better way to silence the timer sound.

Fix it by making just 'stop' work instead of 'Alexa stop'?
