When I talk about tech industry treatment of WiE I start with - we have a technically illiterate media. They have allowed orgs to obfuscate issues & ignore authentic voices of female techies. Reports admit 'invisible women' are having career denied yet no action on equality

Yes, exactly. This is NOT (or at least "not just") ABOUT VIEWS, this is about behaviour. Coverage that fails to mention this fact sets up a debate over view tolerance, which might have been appropriate about, for example, Brendan Eich, but completely irrelevant here.

i also feel like these news outlets should be using different photos of his… like the ones where he's sitting at conferences picking stuff out of his toes and eating it. those might be slightly more representative.
