Completely agree with @realDonaldTrump - Republicans in Senate should use nuclear option to pass a long term budget by a simple majority. That should include long term CHIP funding. It makes no sense to keep the government shut down due to an outdated Senate procedural rule.

Unlikely that the Democrats who voted for CR would comply if Nuke Option used to bully Dems. In other words, it is possible that a simple majority don't support a long term budget that continues overspending. Filibuster is not the problem and Nuke Option not the solution.

On the flip side, this would make it very difficult for GOP Senators to vote against a long term budget. As far as Dem Senators, those who voted for the CR would have to explain why they changed their vote and opposing a procedural change is not an explanation that would fly.

You think it was right to vote “no” for $800 billion to fund CHIP for 6 years? That is a tiny fraction of the federal budget and gives healthcare to about 9 million kids. The federal government wastes a ton of money but this spending is absolutely necessary.

Yes. The score you quote is same fuzzy math that scored ObamaCare as not costing much. CHIP was $8.2B last time scored. I would recommend a "Nay" vote for any non-offset spending. If CHIP is so important, cut waste to fund.
