If Sen. Paul delays the vote scheduled for one hour after we convene tomorrow, it's a filibuster. If not, it's not. http://www.senate.gov/reference/glossary_term/filibuster.htm …
@AJentleson - Yet they are operating under a cloture petition which used to be your trigger to count a filibuster.
-
-
@BrianHDarling right but the cloture petition wasn't filed because of Paul's speech, it was filed because there were several objections. -
@AJentleson - But under your definition, he will be engaging a non talking filibuster when cloture is filed on a PATRIOT Act vehicle. -
@AJentleson - So Sen. Reid or some other member of your caucus is silently filibustering trade bill and Sen. Rand Paul is doing what? -
@BrianHDarling there are several objections on trade. Sen. Paul is taking a bold, principled stand that at 12:01 AM will be a filibuster :) -
@AJentleson - This is similar procedural situation as 2013 when Sen Paul prevented filing cloture on Brennan nom for a day. I agree. -
@BrianHDarling yup. That's a good point too, at 12:01 AM he will also have delayed filing on any FISA extension by at least a day.
