People often talk of the Golden era of gaming but it’s still solid gold to me. There is so much innovation and creativity happening still.

Its crazy to me that people think the "Golden Age" has passed. The sheer amount of variety, innovation and design in Gaming rn is insane!

But the Golden Age was when I was young and impressionable, Brian. And also when I didn't feel bad about devaluing voice actors' hard work because I read way faster than they perform.

I think the medium is so young that it hasn't even had a chance to have a "recession" yet. Every year is the best year to be playing games.

Unfortunately it is far much rarer or maybe I'm getting old. Today's games are more likely to come with loot boxes or dlc rather than the games back in the day and I think it's a sad trend.

People who say that have usually stopped gaming altogether "a while" ago.

People only fixate on the negatives despite the amazing games they could be playing.

Can't say that I see it. There have indeed been some amazing treasures in recent years but overall, the industry is still primarily focused on cloning massively-multiplayer shoot em ups.

You need to widen your gaze, my friend. Look beyond the AAA space.

Yes. I say this all the times someone comes to the table with some old game being the best game.
