"Everything I was trained on mass casualty events says they did the wrong thing." I spoke with a seasoned emergency medical responder who was one of the first to the Stoneman shooting. He doesn't want me using his name for fear he will get fired. Here are his exact quotes. @wsvnpic.twitter.com/t9trsOEaek

The Coral Springs fire chief said this at a press conference a few days ago: "I can tell you that we set up a triage area and we had a steady stream of victims coming out. The officers that went in from all the agencies did a fantastic job getting them to us as fast as possible."

We trained to pull combat soldiers right out of the line of fire. An important thing is to remove casualty from threat of danger.

Care Under Fire refers to a specific phase of tactical combat casualty care, where the threat of fire exists. Plus we are getting away from the point which is that Army medicine is applicable to a battlefield and we are talking about EMTs who are unarmed

Personal knowledge of combat medics, infantryman & nephew who was 63W. They went in to save people. Never held back. I can't imagine them not being armed. Even chaplains are armed.

The military says they're not. Chaplains I mean. However, "Theory is not reality." So I wouldn't be surprised. Medics used to not be armed. During Vietnam, that changed.

I'm an avid scanner listener and, in my area, law enforcement keeps medical emergency personnel holding at a staging area until they can ensure the scene, involving weapons, is secured.

What you included doesn't support your statement. Nothing about first responders involved in the Law Enforcement Rapid Response Team. If anything it supports what I've been saying.

Clearly, some folks do not know the difference between first responders and law enforcement response teams. First responders...aka...ems, paramedics, medical personnel = more unarmed subjects on an active scene.

Ok. Law enforcement. Better? We are discussing the cowardly actions of 4 sheriff's deputies who failed to act, not EMTs rolling up to a random drive-by shooting scene.

Careful now, judging by your profile, you have no intentions of ever being put in that spot but you have no problem with calling them cowards. Thus far I haven't seen anything that states these guys were tactfully trained for that situation.

The other 3 were trained sheriff deputies! Are you going to tell me that they don't train them properly to go in and get control of the situation? Because if that is true, that is even MORE reason for me to keep my guns.

Isn't Sheriff Israel the same man who was in charge during the 2017 Ft. Lauderdale airport shooting?
