I had a productive call with Ukrainian Foreign Minister on our continued efforts to support Ukraine and deter Russia from further aggression. Our support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering.

After the USSR broke up Ukraine was a nuclear weapon state. It gave them up in the 1994 Budapest Memo for promises that the US, UK & Russia would respect its sovereignty & borders & not threaten/use force against it. Will other nuke countries consider such a deal in the future?
The worst deal they ever made. The world has become bunch of teenagers locked in a room.

Unfortunately other countries are likely to reach that same conclusion. If they also decide nuclear weapons are the best defense against experiencing Ukraine’s fate the global security challenge becomes much more complex with more severe consequences for failure.
