Such an argument can be made. A stronger argument is that Zionism is inherently racist—it is settler-colonialism, and settler colonialism is racist. It is also supremacist, as it favors Jews. Then again, all the "one true" religions are inherently supremacist.

Zionism is the movement for Jewish self-determination in our ancestral homeland. If you see this and think of racism or colonialism but you don’t see the same thing in other indigenous liberation movements then you’d be the bigot because of the double standard.

I live in a settler-colonial nation built on a foundation of genocide, slavery, and imperialism. So. And the only ones fighting to "liberate" Palestine are the Palestinians. Zionists—save the <10% Jewish inhabitants from antiquity to the 19th centuries—are colonial invaders.

Ah so you’re projecting your sins onto Jews. Classic. The Jewish people are indigenous to the region, denying it is the colonial bigotry that led to the expulsion of the Jewish people from their homelands in the first place.

Sins? My ancestors were brought here in chains. The Jews were expelled from Palestine due to imperial ethnic cleansing, just like Jews ethnically cleansed Palestine to make Israel 2.0. Under modern law, control of an area thousands of yrs ago confers no license to reconquer.

As you said, you live and benefit from living in a colonial project. You feel bad so you’re projecting your sins onto Jews. People don’t lose their indigenous status just because some warlords expelled them from their homelands. Even if it was thousands of years ago.

Israel should be the blueprint for any anti-colonial movement. When the indigenous people shake off the shackles of European colonists and Muslim warlords the indigenous people win.

Israel IS a colonial movement. There are countless quotes from early Zionist leaders acknowledging precisely that fact. Heck, many early Zionist institutions—Jewish Colonial Trust, Jewish Colonization Association—literally say so in their names!

They used the concepts and words that were available to them at the time. We know today that the Jewish nation is not in the land to extract wealth and take it to another place like colonists do. Their indigenousness and deep connection to the land make the colonial label wrong

It is settler-colonial not imperialist so of course they're not going to extract. And the "concepts and words" have been the same for centuries. The early Zionist leaders are very clear about their intent. I have read most of them extensively.
