We are back in the wild west days. Everybody has a gun and cowards will always shoot first. We are a stressed out, angry and unhealthy country.
-
I knew of parents who worked late had their Middle school aged kids take an Uber home from a school game by themselves!! Crazy

-
You can't trust this world in that manner anymore. We are too far past the times of "that doesn't happen here"
-
It’s safer now than when I was a kid
-
How so?
-
My understanding is the crime rate is much lower than in the late 70s early 80s. The rates of both violent and property crime have been trending down. I think we are media saturated, which is why it feels worse. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_the_United_States …

I used to go to the park with my friends and play all day. The park was a few blocks away...no worries. There's no way I'm letting my kids do that...

I once spoke to an uber driver who told me about his job and how many times he's had a gun pulled on him because the passenger was upset at him (his rule was no food or drink in the car). It's not always the drivers who commit the crime...
-
This is the main reason why I no longer do shared rides, I don’t care how much cheaper they are.

I remember discussing having shared/pooled rides for our taxi company. We sat in a room with three lawyers. It was 2009. And it was agreed there was way to much risk. No waiver was good enough. And no one losing their life was worth a low fare. So we stopped.
-
Most cities don't even allow pooled rides taxis because it is such a blatantly unsafe idea.
-
Agreed. Minneapolis says you have to ask both customer consents. That why we looked at it. But, the liability. I guarantee that if Uber wasn’t offering cheap rides everyone would say “Wait, ride in a car with two strangers?” - that’s what we thought.

Imagine being the driver as this all goes down in your back seat.
-
Right. Thank god he didn't get shot
-
I’dJump out of the car. (Moving or not)

Dear
@Uber@lyft@Uber_NYC Please cancel your pool/shared ride program (which@juno doesn't have). You must ELIMINATE risk of#PassengerArguments turning deadly!@nyctaxi@NYPDONeill@TheRideshareGuy@NYCMayor@NYCCouncil#DeathOfUberPassenger@nypost@NYDailyNews@ariannahuff -
Don’t accept pool rides.. Uber not changing
-
99.999% of people will not shoot whoever they are sharing a ride with. It's unfortunate this happened, but ending the car-pool service won't help a disturbed heart.
-
Agreed.. Uber pool is a bad service for a driver though.. and thankfully I’m at a point where I don’t have to accept them..
-
This wasn’t an uberpool. Both of the passengers entered the car together.
-
Wasn’t saying it was.. I was replying to another tweet in the thread where the gentleman said Uber should get rid of the pool service.. they won’t get rid of it so I was saying it’s up to the drivers not take such passengers .. appreciate your insight tho
